Sammy Schuster Is The CEO Of Her Son, Juju Smith Schuster
Sammy looks over the marketing and advertising aspects of Juju’s company. She is the secretary and treasurer of the JuJu Foundation which is dedicated to supporting youth initiatives. Besides, the 47-year-old looks over the merch store of her footballer son.
She is also a member of Team Diverge, the first athlete-led gaming entertainment & lifestyle company.
Talking about her education, Schuster went to Compton High School and graduated in 1995. She then joined the University of Southern California for her further studies.
She Is The Native Of California
Sammy was born on October 19, 1976, in Compton California. Though not much is known about her parents, we can tell that her dad has already passed away. He died on her birthday month and the daddy’s little girl is glad to share her birthday month with her father.
She grew up with her sister, Bonqueeja Alazee Jenkins, who attended the same high school. Jenkins is currently living in Seattle, Washington, working as a quality control at Trident Seafoods.
Sammy Had Her Famous Son, Juju With Lee Smith
She met her ex-partner Lee Smith in the early 90s. The then couple soon became parents of So’omalo Smith and John Sherman “JuJu” Smith-Schuster. However, they parted ways when their kids were still too young and Sammy started raising her kids as a single mother.
Lee was barely present in their lives after their separation. Even when JuJu asked to change his last name when he was young, Lee refused. So, he had to wait until 18 to legally change his name.
Sammy Schuster Is Now Married to Lawrence Schuster
She met her current husband, Lawrence Schuster when her son, JuJu was 4. After dating for two years, they got married on November 16, 2000. The two tied the knot the day after Lawrence’s birthday. They always have a joint celebration of birthdays and anniversaries.
Schuster fell in love with her at first sight but Sammy was hesitant towards another marriage. She shared how hard it is to find such a loving and caring partner. She further added, “When you have two kids and try to get into another relationship, it’s hard to find someone who is not only going to love you but also your kids.”
Lawrence also happily embraced her children. He was the one who introduced JuJu to the sports. Sammy’s kids also love him so much that JuJu even changed his last name to Smith-Schuster when he started his sophomore season at USC.

She Is The Mother Of Seven Children
Sammy has two kids, So’omalo and JuJu from her previous relationship with Lee and five children, Lawson, Oilau, Salaia, Pua, and Teuila from her current husband. Her firstborn, So’omalo got married in 2023 and has two kids, CJ Brown and Aubrey Brown. Her son, Lawson is a graphic designer. Oilau, Salaia, Pua, and Teuila are still teenagers who live with their parents in Southern California.
It wasn’t easy raising seven children. She worked at a hotel and her husband drove an oil tanker. When they lost their home, they moved to Schuster’s grandmom’s garage. They didn’t have enough money to get everyone presents, so they had to share holiday gifts. Even if they couldn’t fulfill their every need all the time, Sammy and Lawrence did their best to raise the kids.
Schuster Made A Promise To JuJu When He Was Younger
When JuJu was eight, he started playing football and dreamt of playing in the league. He asked Sammy to promise him to move with him when he made it to the NFL. At the time, she agreed but she couldn’t keep her promise as she had to take care of her other kids.
Though she couldn’t be there for all his games, she has been to his first high school game, and first college game and even saw his first NFL touchdown. In fact, the doting mom missed only one JuJu game in college. Even though they are living apart, they are only a phone call away from each other. The mama’s boy said, “She is the person I can always go to, talk to about personal stuff on and off the field.”

Threats and Comments Sammy Received On Her Social Media
Sammy has an Instagram account under @mybeautiful_07, where she shares glimpses of her life. She is also active on her Facebook account. Besides using social media for fun, she raises her voice whenever people start trolling her son.
Back in 2022, when JuJu left the Steelers, she made it clear that he didn’t want to leave and it was the franchise choice. She wrote, “We JuJu & I fought to stay in Pittsburgh because it was never about money it was about loyalty.”
Schuster has also received hate comments and even death threats whenever her kid has done something the fans weren’t happy about. Smith-Schuster had a habit of dancing on opponents’ logos before the game but people weren’t too pleased with his action. The public targeted the NFL player’s mom for his actions. She shared in her Instagram story how she has been receiving hate messages for weeks whenever her son is losing a game. Though Sammy receives hate messages frequently, she hasn’t stopped supporting her son publicly.
