Theodora Holmes is the wife of former football safety Troy Polamalu, who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL. She is also from a family with a strong sports background. From her father to her siblings, all had decent careers as professional footballers.

Theodora is a passionate philanthropist who co-founded The Troy & Theodora Polamalu Foundation along with her husband, Troy. It aims to help those who are in need in their community. It was initially established for the Polamalu family to share their fortune with their community and the lands of their heritage.
The couple also founded the Harry Panos Fund in honor of Theodora’s World War II veteran grandfather.
Besides, Holmes graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pittsburgh Honors Program.
Theodora Is On The Board of Directors For FOCUS North America
In November 2009, it was announced that Troy’s wife, Theodora, was elected as a member of The Board of Directors For FOCUS North America. Following her appointment, Charles Ajalat, Chairman of the Board said,

Later on, Holmes and her husband, Troy, also teamed up with its Tackle Poverty campaign with the aim to help the homeless in America. Mrs. Polamalu said that “their participation in this ministry is very personal because Troy struggled in his youth with poverty.”

The two first came across when both of them were at the University of Southern California (USC) in the late 90’s. The two were introduced by Theodora’s brother, Alex Holmes, who was also Troy’s teammate at college.
Holmes and Polamalu immediately hit it off. He played for the Trojans from 1999 to 2002. A year later, they moved to Pittsburgh after Troy was drafted into the NFL by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
They Engaged in 2004 and Married in 2005
After dating for nearly five years, Troy proposed to his future wife, Theodora, in 2004. The following year, the couple decided to start a new chapter in their lives by getting married on January 27, 2005. However, their wedding was a private affair only attended by close family and friends.
It’s been nearly two decades since they got hitched and their marital life is still going so strong. In 2024, they celebrated their 19 anniversary.
Holmes And Her Partner Are The Parents of Two Children
Holmes along with her hubby, Troy, is also the proud mother of two children. The duo welcomed their first child, a son, Paisios Polamalu, on Oct. 31, 2008. Their second son, Ephraim Polamalu, was born on 16th September 2010.
Since both Troy and his better half, Theodora, are devoted Christians named both of their sons in honor of the ascetic. Paisios was named after the great contemporary Greek Orthodox monastic, Elder Paisios, while his younger brother, Ephraim, was named after Saint Ephrem the Syrian.

Holmes was born on 8th March 1983, in San Diego, California to Michael Holmes and Katina. Her father Mike is a former University of Michigan football defensive end. He played for the college in the mid-70’s. He later worked as a financial advisor to the Saudi Arabian royal family for about thirty years.
On the other hand, her mother, Katina, was a classicist. As a lover of classic literature, Katina used to share it with her kids from a young age. Instead of ordinary bedtime stories, the mother of three would read them the stories by great philosophers like Plato, Aeschylus, and Homer.
She Has Two Footballer Brothers Just Like Her Husband
As mentioned, Holmes comes from a family deeply rooted in football. Following in her father’s footsteps, her brothers, Khaled Holmes (19th January 1990) and Alex Holmes (22nd August 1981) also pursued their careers in the same fields.
Her older brother, Alex, who stands tall at 6 feet 3 inches, is a former National Football League (NFL) tight end who played for the Miamis Dolphins and St. Louis Rams in 2005 and 2006 respectively. He played college football at the University of Southern California.

Besides, her younger brother, Khaled, also played college football at USC and made his NFL draft with the Indianapolis Colts in 2013. He played as a center for the team until 2015. He later went on to play for the Chicago Bears and New York Giants.
