The lovebirds first met during their sophomore year in Baylor University’s library. Kim was looking for an empty seat and saw Mike at a table of eight. She then sat on the corner chair next to him. The beautiful lady approached Mike, asking for his assistance in solving a calculus problem. Additionally, the duo ended up talking a bit.
As a result, their friendship sparked quickly. However, the two never dated in the beginning. In Kim’s own words, ”Well, gosh, I can`t marry him because he`s black.” Regardless, they saw each other for the rest of college and even went on a walk almost every night.
Eventually, as time passed, Kim realized that she was in love with the athlete. She saw him as a perfect husband with all the endearing qualities. The most attractive thing for her was that he possessed every good quality that her father had, such as being sensitive, sincere, and honest.
Soon, the couple started dating and were together for the rest of their college life. Nonetheless, there were some hurdles on their way, and once had to break up for two weeks as there was outside pressure.
The Singletary Couple Walked Down The Aisle Four Decades Ago
The lovely pair encountered many challenges in their relationship due to their interracial differences. For starters, Kim faced disapproval from her parents regarding their wedding. Also, her then-future mother-in-law confronted her, stating Mike would always prioritize her (his mom) before anything.
