Stephanie Diggs’ Parents Instilled In Her the Value of Hard Work Which She Passed Down To Her Sons
One of five children between the late Preston Green Sr (dad) and Betty C. Reed (mom), Diggs, and her siblings were all born in Arlington before moving to Alexandria, VA. She is the second-youngest child of her parents, born in February 1967.
Her dad, Preston Sr, who passed away at the age of 78 on April 12th, 2015, was an automobile mechanic. It was he who inspired all of his kids to work hard and diligently to provide for the family.
Steph learned this important value from her dad and passed it down to her sons, Trevon and Stefon. Moreover, Stefon’s maternal grandpa also had a great bond with his grandchildren and he also taught them valuable lessons about life.

From her parents’ enduring marriage, she has four biological siblings, Sandra Williams, Wanda Luck, born May 1959, Preston Green Jr, born January 1963, and Tangi Green, born January 1976. In addition, from her father’s other relationship, she has three half-siblings, Lula Thomas, Veronica Alvin Pearson, and Lynn Walker.
For her education, Stephanie studied at high schools in Brunswick County and Alexandria, VA.
Stephanie Diggs Faced a Huge Peril In Life After Her Husband’s Death
It’s a tragic situation when your partner passes away and it becomes a thousand times more difficult when you have kids as well. Similar was the situation for Steph. The love of her life, her husband, Aron Diggs passed away at the ripe age of 39 in January 2008, and she became a single mother of five children.
At the time she was working at Amtrak as a train attendant, but due to constricted financial issues, she took on other jobs at Target and Toy R Us. She was so focused on providing for her family that she didn’t even give her time to grieve.
Around six months after her partner’s death due to congestive heart failure, one day during one of her regular 45-minute commutes from Maryland to Union Station, Diggs started reminiscing about her current state of life. As Keyshia Cole’s “I Remember” played in the background, she began sobbing thinking,
“It was like, ‘Wow, who would have ever thought I would be a widow at my age?’ I was 39. … It hit me: ‘Oh my God. Who are these kids? I haven’t even been home with them.’ It was overwhelming. They were dependent on me and only me. I’ve got to keep it together.”
She often had 18-hours shifts on the railroad but whenever there were bad weather conditions, the shifts stretched a bit further.
Stephanie Took Care of Five Children as a Single Mom
Stephanie was happily married to Aron Diggs with whom she welcomed three children. The oldest one Stefon was born on November 29, 1993, the middle child, Trevon came knocking into the world on September 20, 1998, and the youngest Darez was born on December 18, 1995.
In addition to that, Stephanie is a mother of one daughter, Porshe Green, born in March 1991, whom she shares with her former partner. Additionally, she was also the stepmother of her late partner Aron’s son, Aron Diggs Jr.
All five of them are really close with Stephanie and acknowledge her dedication to raising them through such a travesty.
Besides, Stephanie has also become a grandmother. She has two from her son Trevon’s side, Aaiden (2016) and Chosen (2021), and one daughter Nova (2016).
Her Son Darez Was Once Accused of Orchestrating an Attack on a Man
In May 2023, CCTV camera footage showed that Darez, a former XFL player, and two acquaintances attacked a man inside an elevator. The incident occurred in a building in Downtown, Los Angeles.
From the footage, it is clear that one of the assailants was Darez. The three of them viciously beat the man and robbed his purse containing diamonds and a couple of other jewelry as well.
The incident is still under investigation and none of the Diggs family members has come out and given their comment on the matter.
She has not Re-Married after Her Spouse’s Demise
The 57 years old dedicated her whole life to taking care of her children due to which she never had any time to date. Thus, currently, she is single.
Steph’s Sons Trevon and Stefon Can Never Thank Her Enough For What She Has Done
What she has done for her family is nothing short of a miracle. She worked long hours and provided for her family no matter the odds. As we said above, due to the sudden change in her life, she couldn’t grieve for her late husband.
When Aron passed away, Stefon being the oldest of the brood, somehow became the man of the house. Stephanie had one philosophy, ‘Control Stefon, Control the House.’

She made sure to put food on the table and that her kids didn’t lack education. Stefon said that she helped him with the recruiting process by carefully weighing in all the good and bad of every college. Stefon said, “She genuinely wanted what was best for me, and she wasn’t trying to steer me to one school or the other.”
Thanks to Stephanie’s perseverance, both of her sons are now star athletes playing for the biggest teams. Stefon currently plays as a Wide Receiver for Buffalo Bill and Trevon is the cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys.
To this day, both of Diggs’s brother never forgets to pay tribute to their mom. Stefon once told the Dallas Morning News,
“I love her with all of my heart,” Trevon said in a phone interview. “I can’t thank her enough. I don’t know how to repay her. There’s nothing I can do to match everything that she has done for me in the past. … She worked hard. I’m doing it for her now. Now, it’s my turn. I’m going to work hard for her.”
Stephanie Diggs Now Lives a Luxury Life Thanks to Her Hard Work
Thanks to her decades of effort in building the careers of her sons, she is now living an opulent life. Her son Trevon is worth approximately $3 million, and Stefon has a staggering net worth of $12.5 million.
Back in 2018, on Christmas, her son Stefon gifted her with a brand-new SUV. In the video shared by Stefon on Twitter, his mom was awestruck when she saw the white SUV that her son had bought for her.

In 2022, SportsIllustrated went with Stefon and Trevon Diggs as they purchased several luxury items for their mom to gift on Mother’s Day.
Apart from all this, Stephanie, who retired after working for over three decades at Amtrack, is traveling around the world.
