Kim Moses is the ex-wife of the legendary former NFL quarterback Joe Montana. Kim and Joe were married for a couple of years in the 1970s. The former couple started dating in their high school and soon tied the knot. However, marrying at such a young age, didn’t turn out well for both Moses and Montana and they went their separate ways.

We all know, Montana went on to marry Cass Castillo after his first divorce and he is currently married to his long-time wife, Jennifer Wallace. But what about Kim Moses? Did she remarry after her divorce in the early twenties? Where is she now?

There are several unanswered questions about Joe Montana’s first wife. So, let’s unravel the mysteries here.

Kim Moses Was Married to Joe Montana For Three Years

Kim and Joe married in December 1974, when the latter was in the second semester at Notre Dame. According to their marriage certificate, the former husband and wife took the marriage license on December 23, 1974, so we believe they tied the knot around the same time.

Likewise, records show that Kim and Montana received their marriage certificate from St. Joseph County, Indiana on January 4, 1975.

After around three years of their marriage, Joe and Kim parted ways and they finalized their divorce in 1977.

She Remarried After Divorce – Who’s Her Husband?

Moses initially prioritized her studies and career over her relationship after her divorce from her first husband Joe Montana. She eventually found the love of her life, Ian Sander. The details about their first meeting and dating days aren’t available.

Moses and Sander got married in 1994 and led a blissful married life for over two decades before Sander’s untimely demise in 2016. They gave birth to two children: sons Aaron and Declan Sander.

Her Husband Died At The Age of 68

Moses’ husband and veteran television producer, Ian Sander, died of a heart attack on May 3, 2016. He was 68 at the time of his death. His funeral was held on May 9 at Valley Beth Shalom, Los Angeles.

Sander, born and bred in New York City, left home at 17 to attend the University of Southern California where he earned a bachelor’s degree. He also received his master’s degree at the School of Cinematic Arts, USC.

Kim Moses’ Ex-Husband Joe Montana Sued Her

Back in May 2008, the four-time Super Bowl winner filed a lawsuit against his first wife, Kim, and a Texas auction house. The former quarterback sued them for selling the love letters he wrote to her while they were dating and memorabilia from the time he was at Notre Dame.

In addition to the love letters, the items included Joe’s freshman I.D. card, a letter of intent from the university, and their marriage certificate. Montana claimed Kim sold the items without his consent and sought damages over $75,000.

In response to the lawsuit, Moses’ legal team expressed disappointment, saying that the items she sold rightfully belonged to her. They said that Ms. Moses received the items as a token of love and appreciation. On top of that, they argued that the Property Settlement Agreement signed by them made Kim the sole owner of the mentioned items.

Her Ex Leads A Happily Married Life with Children

Montana married Cass Castillo after his first divorce, but like his first marriage, his second marriage ended in divorce soon. Montana and Castillo got married in 1981 and got divorced in 1984. Around a year after his second divorce, Montana got married to his third wife, Jennifer Montana (née Wallace).

They have been leading a wonderful married life and are blessed with four kids. Montana and Wallace gave birth to two daughters, Alexandra Montana and Elizabeth Montana, and two sons, Nick and Nate Montana.

Kim graduated from Monongahela Valley Catholic High School in 1974. She started dating her then-future husband Joe Montana in her high school days, although Joe studied at another school.

She didn’t continue her studies after high school since she got married to Joe and shifted to Indiana to work at Notre Dame. After her divorce from the former NFL star, she earned a paralegal degree and a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from Georgetown University.

Her Early Career

As we said, she started working at the University of Notre Dame in its sports information office after high school. Her career path shifted after her divorce.
