Amari Cooper’s Parents Terrance Cooper And Michelle Green Have Five Children
Terrance and Michelle share four daughters and one son. Their daughters, Airrika Cooper, Ashley Cooper, Avery Cooper, and Aspen Cooper are living a low-key life away from prying eyes but are the biggest supporters of their youngest brother, Amari Cooper.
Even though Terrance was away from their life, Michelle did her best to raise her children. Whenever she was too busy to attend her son’s games, her daughters would step up for their brother. All of them share a strong bond with their mom.
Michelle Struggled Financially To Raise Her Kids As A Single Mother
After her partner went to jail, Green had to raise her kids on her own. The young mother worked several jobs to make ends meet. She worked as a waitress and a cashier at Texas Taco Factory for some time. She wasn’t free even on weekends as clients used to come to her house for hair appointments. Green even worked at a temp agency and Royal Caribbean cruises.
The family lived in the Coconut Grove neighborhood of Miami. They didn’t have a car so they had to walk miles for groceries. Her son, Amari shared how he used to tell his mom that he was too tired to walk there and the next thing he remembers is his mom had marks lined up due to heavy bags.
That was the moment he realized his mother’s sacrifices. Moreover, he has also shared how his mom would glue his shoes as he had only one pair of them.
Green Couldn’t Attend Her Son’s Games Due To Work
The single mom was so occupied with her work that she couldn’t attend her son’s high school games. By the time they could afford a truck, Amari was already in high school playing football. When she finally attended a game, he was already a senior at Northwestern High. The young player was nervous to play in front of his mom but at the end of the day, he did well.
Talking about his mother’s appearances on his games, Cooper said, “She’s probably seen me play in the league two or three times.” Meanwhile, Michelle made a trip to Hawaii when her son made the Pro Bowl as a rookie for the Raiders in 2015. Even though she doesn’t usually attend her child’s games, she is his biggest cheerleader.
Cooper’s Father Is A Stranger To Him
When Amari was a year old, his father, Terrance Cooper was found guilty of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling in May 1996. He was sentenced to 30 years in Florida State Prison as he was ruled a habitual felony offender. Terrance was scheduled to be out in mid-2022. We can’t say when he was released due to little information on the matter.
The player never went to visit his dad nor wanted to know him. He shared that it used to bother him during his childhood but after some time, he didn’t care about whose name he carried. Michelle fulfilled the role of both parents for her kids in such a way that the kids never felt the absence of their father.
Amari Bought A House And A Car For His Mom
Cooper bought a house for his mother after being drafted in the NFL. After a house, the next thing on his list was a car. The player broke the news on his Instagram with a picture of Michelle in front of her new home and a new Range Rover. He even shared how it took 20-plus years to afford their dream. He captioned the post,
I grew up in the projects, we didn’t even own a car.. The whole story is way too long and melancholic, but just know a dream can go a long way if it’s followed by faith and hard work. It took us 20+ years but now my mother has the house and car of her dreams.
Cooper further wrote, “You deserve it, mama, I love you.”
