Josh Johnson, born Joshua Javon Johnson, is a quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2008 NFL Draft. Since then, Johnson has been a member of 14 different NFL teams which is a record in itself.

Josh was born to Gordie Johnson and Rosemary Whisenton in Oakland, California. His father, Gordie is a former basketball player and coach. Besides basketball, Gordie is also a martial arts instructor.

Josh’s mother, Rosemary raised her four children as a single mother after Gordie left her when the kids were young. She even worked three jobs to make ends meet.

Josh was a letterman in football, basketball, and track & field at Oakland Technical High School. He played four seasons, from 2004 to 2007, as a quarterback at the University of San Diego.

Talking about his personal life, Josh has been married to Zina Johnson since March 4, 2023. The NFL star announced his marriage to Zina through an Instagram post on his wedding day.

  • Josh Johnson was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fifth round, 160th overall pick of the 2008 NFL draft.
  • He made his NFL debut on September 27, 2009, against the New York Giants.
  • He made his first career start on October 4, 2009, in a 16-13 loss to the Washington Commanders.
  • On March 24, 2012, Johnson signed a two-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers, however, he was excluded from the final roster for the season.
  • Johnson then played for the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League in 2012. He only played in 2 games before the league folded.
  • He signed with the Cleveland Browns on December 26, 2012. Johnson played in Week 17 against the Pittsburgh Steelers where he received a single snap which resulted in a sack.
  • He signed with the Cincinnati Bengals on March 21, 2013. But, he was released on May 12, 2014.
  • Johnson was signed and released multiple times by the San Francisco 49ers before he joined the Bengals on April 2, 2015. The Bengals again released him on August 25, 2015.
  • Johnson signed with multiple teams in the coming years such as the NY Jets, Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills, and Baltimore Ravens, however, he didn’t play for any of the teams.
  • His next NFL appearance came on December 9, 2018, against the New York Giants which they lost by 40-16.
  • Afterward, Josh Johnson signed with the Detroit Lions, 49ers, NY Jets, Ravens, and Denver Broncos. However, he hasn’t got any significant game time with any of the teams.
  •  He signed a deal with the Baltimore Ravens on May 22, 2023. He was released and signed twice in between and finally re-signed by the Ravens on September 25, 2023.
