Hector Gonzalez and Temple Gonzalez are the parents of Christian Gonzalez who is the cornerback for the New England Patriots. They have been by his side from the very beginning and have always been supportive of their son’s career. Matter of fact, according to the 22-year-old they are the cornerstone of his success.

Christian Gonzalez’s Parents Met After His Dad Came To The United States From Colombia

Hector and Temple Gonzalez’s initial love story is quite a mystery. However, we do know for a fact that they met sometime after Hector came to the United States from Colombia to pursue a basketball career. They started dating not long after and have been together ever since.

Presently, the couple resides in Dallas Texas. They have been enjoying a happily married life and are proud parents of four including Melissa, Samantha, Christian, and Lily Gonzalez.

Hector Gonzalez Is A Former Basketball Player From Colombia

Hector was born on May 21, 1970, in Cali, Colombia. He is a former Colombian basketball player who used to play college basketball for the University of Texas at El Paso before playing semi-professionally in Colombia. With an astounding height of 6 foot 8, he played as a Center. The cornerback’s father joined the UTEP in 1992 playing for a total of two seasons.

He appeared in 59 matches and scored 73 points in total followed by eight assists. Similarly, throughout his career, Gonzalez had 154 rebounds, 23 steals and 26 blocks.

Furthermore, Hector was one of the prospects for the NBA draft in 1992, however, things didn’t go as planned and he wasn’t selected by any of the teams. Later on, the 54-year-old went to Colombia where he played semi-professional basketball for the Piratas de Bogota from 1999 to 2000.

On September 19, 2023, the Patriots cornerback participated in the NFL Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. He decided to post a video telling everyone how proud he feels of his Colombian roots.

Furthermore, Christian talked about how his athletic family background helped him to come to the NFL. He stated that it means a lot to him to be able to represent Colombia in the United States, and it makes him happy to inspire many children to play the sport. His exact words were,

 “When I got to high school it was my turn to say what I was going to do next González. Being able to represent Colombia in the United States means a lot to me because children who want to play this sport can be inspired by me. I like having that weight on my shoulders.

Christian’s Mom Temple Gonzalez Is An English Teacher

Temple was born Temple Creamer in March 1972 to Gayle Creamer and the late Travis Creamer in Dallas Texas. Her parents were college sweethearts and got married on March 21, 1980. Sadly, her father who was also a football player passed away at the age of 72.

She grew up in her hometown alongside her sister Tiffany. Similarly, Mrs. Gonzalez is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School.

The 52-year-old currently works as an English teacher at DeWitt Perry Middle School. She is proficient in English and Spanish. Similarly, in May 2019, Temple was named the Teacher of the Year and was the finalist for CFBISD Teacher of the Year. She was accompanied by her family members during the event.

Hector and Temple are both supportive parents. They regularly attend their son’s games and not just that, both of their social accounts are filled with Christian’s posts.

The former basketball player constantly takes to Twitter to display his love and admiration for his son and never misses a day to tell everyone how proud he is of the cornerback. On September 28, 2023, he took to Twitter to congratulate Christian on his achievement and reminded him to keep working hard.

Likewise, Temple is not far behind her husband as she constantly shows love for her children through her Facebook account. The English teacher doesn’t shy away from expressing her love for her kids as she regularly posts about them on her socials showing everyone how proud she is of her son and daughters.

Christian’s Sisters Are Also Athlete

Just like Christian’s father, Hector, and grandfather, Travis, his three sisters have all inherited athletic genes. His eldest sister, Melissa Gonzalez Blough is a well-renowned track athlete specializing in 400m hurdles and relay. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin in 2016.

She is known for being 3rd in the Big 12 Championships. Likewise, she is the winner of the 4x400m relay and 400m hurdles in the 2014-15 outdoor Texas Invitational.

Meanwhile, Melissa has been married to Detroit Lions quarterback David Blough since March 14, 2019. They are parents to a beautiful daughter born in July 2023.

Samantha Gonzalez

Samantha is also a track runner. She is a graduate of the University of Miami and has managed to achieve several awards as a track and field runner.

Samantha was the winner of the 400m hurdles at the 2018 ACC Championships and was ACC performer of the week twice. Likewise, she came second at the 2018 Relay Championship. In 2015 she won the 300m track race and was awarded with Gatorade Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year award.

Last but not least, Hector and Temple’s youngest daughter Lily is also involved in track and field activity. She has won every fun run and Turkey Trot event during her time at Kent Elementary.

Besides her interest in sports, Lily also loves cooking and has been taking cooking classes. In December 2022, Temple posted a collage of pictures of her daughter making a Swedish dish called the Lefse and thanked everyone involved for helping her keep in touch with her Swedish roots.
