Fletcher Cox is a defensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles. He played college football at Mississippi State from 2009 to 2011. Cox was drafted by the Eagles in the 2012 NFL Draft.
He was born on December 13, 1990, in Yazoo City, Mississippi to Melissa Cox and Walter Gainwell. His parents separated when Fletcher and his siblings were still young. After the separation, Walter married Cynthia Nushelle Johnson.
Fletcher has three siblings, Shaddrick Cox, Fantasia Cox, and Nakeia Cox. His older brother, Shaddrick Cox unfortunately died of a heart attack on January 12, 2015.
He was rushed to the hospital on the 5th of January after he suffered a massive heart attack. He remained in the ICU for around a week before he took his last breath.

- In his rookie season, he played 15 games and finished with 39 tackles and 5.5 sacks.
- He played as a defensive end in 2013. Starting in all 16 regular games and finished with 44 tackles, and three sacks.
- The 2014 season was a breakout year for Cox. He registered 61 tackles, four sacks, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries.
- In the 2015 NFL season, Cox made 71 tackles, 9.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles. He was named to the Pro Bowl for the first time for his efforts.
- Cox earned his second consecutive Pro Bowl selection in the 2016 season with 43 total tackles, 6.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 16 games.
- Fletcher was named in his third consecutive Pro Bowl in 2017, however, he couldn’t play in the Pro Bowl as the Eagles made it to the Super Bowl LII which they won by 41-33 against the New England Patriots.
- Cox earned selection to the Pro Bowl in the 2018, 2019, and 2020 seasons.
- Fletcher Cox was released by the Eagles before the start of the 2022 season, however, he was re-signed two days later. As always, he played a crucial role in taking the Eagles to Super Bowl LVII.
- He signed a one-year extension with the Eagles on March 16, 2023, for $10 million.
